Didn't know they made a C4 sedan until now. Don't you also have a C5? Seems a little unusual to have two fairly similar cars.

What kind of weird Citroën is that? I've never seen one before. Some kind of sedan version of the first gen C4? That would be odd, as you just noted in another thread that the hydroactive system gave problems. The C4 has regular springs.

That's why I don't need it anymore, I used to have this and a Megane, which I traded for the C5, and then came the Subaru. It just sits there, but I'm still paying for it.

It is indeed a C4 sedan, known as the Pallas, I own both of them, the silver C5 and the C4 large.

Oh god the megane was it the 2003-2007 one or the newest shape? My mam had a 2004 and I still reserve a special dislike for that thing.

Where's that? The c4 pallas is sold only in a select few places.

Haha this one.

Why did you not like it?

Steering was extremely light and vague, gear change felt like whisking milk. Absolutely awful to work on. Build quality meant something was either falling off or about to fall off. The boot space was insanely small (we had the hatch). Although the seats were good and it was reasonably comfortable at least.

The steering was indeed extremely light, and the auto transmission was horrible, only Renault was able to work on it but the build quality in mine was surprisingly ok, only the rubbery plastic peeled off after 100k km.

You got lucky I think. The front bumper had begin to droop on ours for some reason and all the inner wing liners had split. I remember the most "interesting" fault we had on it where the car would only run at over 4000rpm, any lower and it would stall. So it had to be driven home in city traffic with the pedal floored, the clutch did not like that...

Brazil, the land of samba, corrupt politicians and weird long citroens.

My interesting fault was that it didn't like hills, every time it went downhill or uphill the transmission would cock-up and go into safety mode.

Oh I see. Just like France except for the samba?

Actually there used to be a Talbot Samba.

That's an unusual one. Maybe the angle meant the oil level sensor thought the transmission had no oil and tried to protect it.

Being that it's a Renault you may never know though, took me quite some time and research to fix ours.

My french specialist mechanic said it was wear and gave me a $3,500 estimate to get it fixed. Needless to say, I just got rid of the car.

A wise choice. When we got rid of our Megane the passenger window was clamped in place (the electric windows failed and released tension on the cables making it drop) and the passenger door leaked like a sieve. It also knocked at full steering lock and looked pretty worn out.

And after all this I just went a bought another 4 speed auto, even more complicated french car, just because it looked pretty. What did you trade it for?

Another Renault, we didn't learn much either haha. To be fair it's a 2006 Laguna Estate with 1.9 turbo diesel and a 6 speed manual. Has much more room, is a lot quicker and so far seems to be better built. We got it for half market value too because we bought it from my grandad, family discount is the best.

I really like how the Lagunas look, especially the front half. 1.9 T diesel sounds nice, we don't get diesels over here.

Obrigado, and by way of bonus there's a Fiat 126 behind the Samba.

It is quite a nice car. There's been some minor build quality issues, the entire plastic undertray had to be cut off because every single bolt that held it on had been cross threaded. Other than that though it drives reasonably well, not as nice as the equivalent mondeo but the good interior and ride make up for that. It's surprisingly quick for what it is too.
